Present where the freight is
Agents attend loading points, ports, and transfer sites in the regions they cover.
Local knowledge
Site access, terminal procedure, and regional permitting are handled by people who work there.
Still one file
However many parties touch a shipment, the customer deals with the same Montréal coordinator.
About the agent network
From 2019 onward Rite Way Freight built out a network of local agents across Canada and the United States. The reason is straightforward: some parts of a specialized move have to happen in person, and they happen a long way from Montréal.
Agents coordinate pickups and deliveries on the ground — attending at loading points, ports, and transfer sites, dealing with terminal and yard procedure, and confirming that a site is actually ready to receive an oversized load before a truck is sent to it.
They do not replace the coordinator. The customer books with Montréal, is quoted by Montréal, and asks Montréal where the load is. The agent is how the Montréal desk has eyes at the other end of a two-thousand-kilometre lane.
What agents handle
- Pickup coordination at the loading point
- Delivery coordination at the receiving site
- Site readiness and access checks
- Crane and rigging coordination on site
- Port and terminal procedure
- Rail ramp and drayage coordination
Agent coverage by region
Where agents are used most, and what they are used for.
Québec and Ontario
Least reliance on agents — own equipment and staff cover most of the corridor.
Western Canada
Remote sites and mining and energy projects, where being on site matters most.
Atlantic Canada
Port and terminal work at Halifax and Saint John.
United States
Pickups, deliveries, and terminal procedure across the cross-border lanes.
Local presence, one file
The agent network was built out from 2019 so that every region served has someone able to be present when a load is picked up or delivered.
